Emily has been an active promoter of arts and education for children and youth over the past thirty years. From 1980s to 1990s, Emily had directed a wide range of children’s plays. At the same time, Emily was a popular television and radio presenter. She wrote scripts and lyrics for songs, narrated stories, performed songs and produced educational videos and compact discs for children. Between 1986 and 1999, Emily had been the scriptwriter and presenter of RTHK’s children programme ‘Let’s Sing and Learn’. The programme received high acclaim and gained her the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union Grand Awards for Radio Programmes for Children in 1987 (Bangkok) and again in 1990 (Indonesia).

Emily was selected as one of the 1994 Ten Outstanding Young Persons and became the Founding Principal of Chan’s Creative School in 1995. Emily is the pioneer of local Arts Education and creates the “Five-Hearts Education” approach: Love, Care, Patience, Truthfulness and Embracing the Child from Within. She passionately believes that these qualities can enable children to grow up in confidence, harmony, self-assurance, self-respect and joyfulness.

Owing to her untiring commitment and dedication to the betterment of the community, she was appointed by the Chief Executive to be the “Justice of Peace” in 2002. In 2006, The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong invited Emily to host a 45-minute story session with 1,400 children and parents on “World Book Day”. The event was subsequently included in the Guinness World Records. In these 20 years, Emily has often been invited to give lectures on educational, cultural and leadership topics for universities, institutions and corporations in China and Hong Kong. The Government of the Hong Kong SAR awarded the Medal of Honor to Emily in 2010 in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the arts and culture activities in Hong Kong.

Since September 2013, Emily has been invited to join Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited and become the Head of Radio Campus. She has set up the channel with a view to transmit positive values and ideas to all principals, teachers, parents and students in Hong Kong, as well as to promote the living of harmonious and healthy life.
